Special visits from a group of toddlers are spreading laughter and fun among residents at a Ashbrook Court.
The Little Cherubs are regular visitors at the home where they take part in a number of activities with residents and share experiences to forge special bonds between the generations.
“All the kids love it and it was so nice seeing them enjoy themselves and being a part of everything. I have grandchildren and I love seeing how much energy they have so it’s lovely to have the children come to visit,” said Pauline Cowan, aged 80.
Norman Mitchell, 70, said: “It’s always lovely seeing the kids faces so happy that’s what it’s all about.”
Angela Harman, aged 76, added: “I really enjoyed myself. I like seeing the kids and it’s nice to spoil them.”
The group enjoy a range of activities together, playing with toys and singing nursery rhymes as well as sharing stories.
“The residents love it when the Little Cherubs come to visit and they bring so much energy and happiness to everyone,” lifestyle coordinator Lorna Morey said.
“It’s so special to see the bonds that are being created between two different generations and how much they have to offer each other.
“The residents are all smiles when they know the children are coming in and you can see how happy it makes them long after they’ve left.”
Care home manager, Jonathane Ribeiro, outlined how special the visits are as well as the benefits it brings to residents at the home, which provides residential, nursing and dementia care.
He said: “The Little Cherubs bring an incredible sense of happiness and vibrancy to our home and this fun atmosphere is something we really encourage.
“Building relationships with our local community is really important to us as well as welcoming everyone into the wider Ashbrook Court family.
“To see the happy smiling faces of everyone, as well as enabling our residents to share their experiences with the children and create new memories is really special.
“The interaction between the children and our residents is so heartwarming, and we are incredibly grateful for the opportunity to create such wonderful moments.”
